Fifth tip for COVID days – Deciding Whether to Change the System

In the last three videos, tips 2-4 for COVID days,
we prepared a list of defects – a list of all the things we would like to improve in the system.

We then checked whether the existing system could address these defects by way of deepening the implementation, or whether there is an external solution for a specific issue that can solve our problem such as an application or another system.
In this video, we will summarize the stage of examining the defects, and we will make a decision on whether the replacement of an information system is needed or not.

How do we reach such a decision?

If the implementer of our existing system tells us that most of the issues in our list of defects cannot be resolved, and we also come to the conclusion that there is no one-step solution that will solve our main problem – i.e. by adding a system/application, then it’s worth moving on to the next step, and begin to examine the option of replacing the information system.

What else is important to check before starting the system replacement examination process?

  • Budget – a system replacement project is expensive, make sure you have the required budget before you invest valuable time in examinations and comparisons
  • Time – a significant investment of time will be required from the organization
  • Deadline – because the employees’ time will be required, you should plan schedules, for examinations, comparisons and of course the execution of the project – it will go live at a time when the organization is not at peak pressure

Deciding on an information system is very important! It is a choice that will accompany you in the next 5-10 years. Need help? Contact us and together we will decide on whether to change the system in your organization
